ABHIPRAYA NAWASENA ASMARALOKA: The Social Service of Students from the Faculty of Marine and Fisheries, Udayana University in Spreading Care and Compassion.
In 2024, the Faculty of Marine and Fisheries at Udayana University once again carried out a Social Service activity titled "Abhipraya Nawasena Asmaraloka." This event, an annual program organized by the Student Executive Body of the Faculty of Marine and Fisheries, aims to strengthen the relationship between students and the community while making a tangible contribution to improving social welfare. This year, the social service was held at the Bali Life Suwung Community Centre Foundation, featuring activities focused on education and creativity.
The event began with an opening by the MC, followed by a report from the committee chairperson, Rangga Sastra Dwiyana. The head of the Bali Life Suwung Community Centre Foundation, Mrs. Feny Ndun, then delivered a speech, followed by remarks from the Chairperson of the Student Executive Body of the Faculty of Marine and Fisheries, Udayana University 2024, I Gede Kaivalya Bhanu Varistha. The event was officially opened by a faculty representative from the Faculty of Marine and Fisheries, I Wayan Darya Kartika, S.Pi., M.Si. “This social service is an important routine activity as a manifestation of our concern for the condition of the surrounding community. Students are fortunate to receive good education, but outside, many still lack access to quality education. It is hoped that by engaging directly, students can make a tangible contribution and help raise awareness about the importance of education. This also provides an opportunity for them to better understand the community's conditions and act as agents of change,” he added. The speech was concluded with three taps on the microphone, officially marking the opening of the event.
Before the social service activity concluded, participants and community members also attended a presentation from the fire department, which aimed to raise awareness about the importance of safety and the steps to take in emergency situations. Additionally, a creative activity for the children was held, involving the creation of "wish trees" and the planting of trees around the Bali Life Suwung Community Centre area. Through this activity, the children were encouraged to write down their hopes and dreams while also actively participating in environmental preservation. The event concluded with a group photo.
"I’m so happy there is this social service activity. I learned new things about how to handle fire and the safety steps shared by the fire department team. This is really useful for us here," said Bagus, one of the children at the Bali Life Suwung Community Centre.
The social service by the Faculty of Marine and Fisheries, Udayana University, was a successful event full of joy and togetherness, making a positive impact on the surrounding community. This activity not only strengthened the bond between students and the community but also contributed to raising awareness about the importance of education and safety. It is hoped that this social service activity will serve as a sustainable starting point to strengthen social awareness and create a positive impact in the community. The activity is expected to continue and provide long-lasting benefits to all parties involved. The spirit of unity fostered during the event is hoped to continue growing, serving as an inspiration for both students and the community to always contribute to building a better future.
