As part of the 12th anniversary, the academic community of FKP Unud conducted coral reef transplantation and beach clean up at Pandawa Beach.

Coral reefs are home to thousands of marine life, providing food, habitat, spawning grounds, and shelter from predators. However, coral reef health has declined in the last 10 years due to increased anthropogenic activities. One way to improve the condition of coral reef cover that has died is to transplant.

On Monday, 9 October 2023, located at Pandawa Beach, the academic community of the Faculty of Marine and Fisheries (FKP) of Udayana University consisting of the ranks of the dean, lecturers, education staff, and students carried out coral reef transplantation and cleaning up coastal areas around Pandawa Beach. The coral seeds planted were 100 donated by FKP partners, PT Tanjung Sari Akuarium and KPHKN. This activity was held as a series of events to commemorate the 12th anniversary of FKP with the theme Dvasasa Abhyakta: synergy to build achievements. FKP is the youngest faculty in Udayana University, however, during its 12 years of existence, FKP has made many achievements both in the field of research and education in the field of Marine and Fisheries.

Separately, the Dean of FKP, Prof. Dr. Ir. I Wayan Nuarsa, M.Si said that FKP has routinely jumped directly to transplant corals in several places such as Pandawa Beach, Lipah Beach, and Jemeluk Beach as well as cleaning beaches such as Timbis Beach, Kelan Beach, Melasi Beach, and Gunung Payung Beach. These activities are also a tangible manifestation of FKP's commitment to preserving the coastal and marine environment. "This transplant is just the first step and a long-term investment. The challenge in preserving the coastal and marine environment lies in ensuring the survival and sustainability of the planted coral seedlings, therefore regular monitoring needs to be carried out at the planting site," he concluded.
With this 12th anniversary series, FKP Unud continues to strive to foster synergy and collaboration with various parties to jointly form innovations and achievements to build the country.
