Closing and Reporting of the 2024 MBKM Bina Desa Sembung Program: A Step Forward Towards Sustainable Village Development
With a spirit of collaboration and commitment to advancing Sembung Village, the Closing and Reporting of the 2024 MBKM Bina Desa Program was successfully held. The event, which took place on the morning of Friday, January 17, 2025, in the Meeting Room of the Sembung Village Office, served as a moment of reflection on the program’s achievements. Moreover, it was a tangible manifestation of the synergy between academics, students, the village government, and the community.
The event was attended by the leadership of the Village Consultative Body (BPD), the Village Head, represented by the Head of Government Affairs, I Gusti Agung Ngurah Wirawan, along with the Sembung Village Officials, Dr. Ir. Nyoman Dati Pertami, S.P., M.Si., as the Coordinator of the Water Resources Management Study Program, Ni Made Ernawati, S.Kel., M.Si., as the Field Supervisor, representatives from the Fish Farming Group, the Lembayung Natah Pertiwi Tourism Awareness Group, and the River Care Group.
The event commenced with a speech from the Head of the Organizing Committee, who expressed gratitude to God Almighty for the smooth execution and success of the program. In his remarks, he stated,"The MBKM Bina Desa program is a concrete step in applying scientific knowledge to the community. This program is designed to support village development, particularly through the application of probiotics in catfish farming, which has proven effective in improving production quality and addressing various challenges in the field. We sincerely appreciate the support of all parties who have contributed to the success of this program. We hope that this initiative will continue to benefit the community in the future."
A representative from the fish farming group also delivered a speech, expressing gratitude for the guidance provided.
"We feel greatly helped by this program. The knowledge we have gained, especially about the use of probiotics, has had a tangible impact on our fish farming. We hope that this kind of support will continue and inspire other fish farming groups," the representative said enthusiastically.
Meanwhile, Dr. Ir. Nyoman Dati Pertami, S.P., M.Si., the Coordinator of the Water Resources Management Study Program, expressed appreciation to the people of Sembung Village for warmly welcoming the students."This program serves as an invaluable learning opportunity for students to contribute directly to society. We deeply appreciate the hospitality and cooperation of all parties in this village. Hopefully, the outcomes of this program will have a lasting positive impact," she stated optimistically.
She also introduced a new study program at the Faculty of Marine and Fisheries of Udayana University, namely the Aquaculture Study Program, which focuses on aquaculture development."This study program is our commitment to advancing the sustainable aquaculture sector. With the increasing demand for innovation in aquaculture, we hope that graduates of this program can contribute to creating innovative solutions for the fisheries industry, including in villages like Sembung, which has great potential in this sector," she explained.
The final speech was delivered by a representative of the Sembung Village Government. In his remarks, I Gusti Agung Ngurah Wirawan, the Head of Government Affairs of Sembung Village, expressed appreciation and high hopes for the MBKM team."We highly appreciate the dedication of the students and supervisors who have made an extraordinary contribution to our community. Activities like this not only help improve the skills of the people but also strengthen the relationship between academia and the village. We hope this collaboration will serve as the first step toward more beneficial programs in the future," he said.
Following the speeches, the event continued with a presentation of the program report by the Head of the Organizing Committee, detailing the entire series of activities, including probiotic-making training, technical guidance in fish farming, and production evaluation. To commemorate the four-month journey filled with dedication, a documentary video was shown, visualizing the collaborative process between students and the community.
The event concluded with a symbolic handover ceremony, where plaques, probiotic application guidebooks, aquaculture technique brochures, and certificates were presented to the fish farming group. The Coordinator of the Study Program and the Field Supervisor conducted the handover as a form of appreciation and commitment to the sustainability of this program.
This valuable moment marked the end of the MBKM program, which not only imparted new knowledge but also had a positive impact on improving community skills in aquaculture and strengthening synergy between academia, students, the village government, and the community.
In his closing remarks, the Head of the Organizing Committee encouraged all stakeholders to continue learning and growing together."Let us use this program as a stepping stone to create even better innovations for a more advanced and sustainable Sembung Village," he concluded with great hope.
