FKP BECOMES THE TARGET OF COOPERATION WITH THE MDPI FOUNDATION


Tuesday, 18 September 2023 MDPI Foundation visited the Faculty of Marine and Fisheries (FKP) in order to initiate cooperation. Also present were MDPI Director (Yasmine Simbolon), Fisheries Manager (Putra Satria), and Novriansyah. The presence of MDPI was welcomed by the UPIKS Team and FKP lecturers. The activity began with remarks from FKP, represented by the coordinator of the Information and Cooperation Management Unit (UPIKS) Dewa Ayu Angga Pebriani and explained about the Faculty of Marine Affairs and Fisheries in general both related to existing study programs and collaborative activities that have been carried out with foreign and domestic partners. In her presentation, the scope of cooperation that can be collaborated is in the fields of education, research, and service.


Yasmine Simbolon introduced MDPI in outline that Yayasan Masyarakat dan Perikanan Indonesia (MDPI) is a non-profit organisation with a mission to empower fisheries communities to achieve sustainable fisheries through community organising and harnessing market forces which was established in 2013.
Based on the discussions that have taken place, it was agreed that the cooperation that will be collaborated is the MBKM Mandiri programme for students who will intern at the MDPI Foundation, a guest lecture programme by inviting practitioners from MDPI to teach several courses correlated with the capture fisheries field, research to produce joint publications, and community service activities on fishery product processing to fishermen groups on the coast of Bali.
The agreement will be compiled in a Cooperation Agreement that will be ratified by both parties. Through the PKS made later both parties hope to advance fisheries activities in Indonesia, especially in Bali.
