FKP Unud Together with Kwansei Gakkuin University Holds Summer Science Degree

On Wednesday, 10 August 2023, an online Summer Science Program between KGU (Kwansei Gakkuin University) and the Faculty of Marine and Fisheries (FKP) UNUD took place which is one of the collaborative activities between KGU and FKP Unud in the field of education. This event is the third activity carried out online.

Participating in the activity consisted of 6 lecturers and 15 collaborative students, both from FKP Unud and KGU. This activity will last for 1 month and be held for approximately 2 weeks in August 2023.

The activity began with remarks from the Director of International Affairs of KGU (Prof. Hiroyuki Toh), Dean of KGU (Prof. Shinsuke Fujiwara), and Dean of FKP Unud (Prof. I Wayan Nuarsa). In his remarks the dean of FKP, Prof. Dr. Ir. I Wayan Nuarsa, M.Si. hopes that cooperation activities can take place on an ongoing basis between KGU and Udayana University, especially the Faculty of Marine and Fisheries.

Furthermore, lectures took place with interesting topics including Marine Biology, Marine Debris, Environmental Remote Sensing, Analytical Technology for Environment Studies (ATES), Amino acid sequence analysis for marine science (AASA), and Photosynthesis in Marine Science (PMS).

The materials were delivered by several FKP and KGU lecturers, namely Prof. I Wayan Arthana, I Gede Hendrawan, PhD, I Wayan Gede Astawa Karang PhD, Assoc. Prof Bibin Bintang Andriana, Prof Hiroyuki Toh, Prof Yusuke Matsuda. Small groups were made from 15 participants into 3 groups.

At the end of each presentation of material, a discussion session was held in each group and presented at the end of the activity. Through this activity, students are expected to be able to broaden their horizons and experience on an international scale.

The programme collaboration between KGU and the Faculty of Marine and Fisheries, Udayana University was initiated in 2015. In addition, KGU has provided opportunities for alumni of the Faculty of Marine and Fisheries to continue their studies through various scholarship offers.

Until now there are 4 FKP alumni who continue their studies at KGU. FKP Udayana hopes that the cooperation and good relations between the two institutions will be maintained and increased every year for mutual benefit, both in academic and non-academic aspects.(BB).
