For the First Time in 8 Years, BASIC UDAYANA Celebrates its 8th Anniversary

BASIC Udayana, a semi-autonomous body under the Faculty of Marine and Fisheries at Udayana University, celebrated its 8th anniversary on Thursday, October 31, 2024. The organization was initially established on September 18, 2015, but according to the Decree of Establishment, October 24, 2016, was officially recognized as the day of BASIC Udayana’s rebirth. After eight years, the management of BASIC Udayana organized a special event to commemorate this significant milestone.

The anniversary celebration took place in front of the Samudra Building lobby at the Faculty of Marine and Fisheries at Udayana University. The event was attended by BASIC Udayana’s mentors, regular members, extraordinary members, and honorary members, all coming together to mark this special occasion.

The event began with an opening by the MC, followed by a prayer, speeches from the 2024 Chairman of BASIC Udayana and the organization's mentor, and the symbolic cutting of the tumpeng (a traditional Indonesian cone-shaped rice dish) by both the Chairman and the mentor. The celebration continued with members sharing their hopes for the future of BASIC Udayana, concluding with a communal meal.

During the session for sharing hopes, members expressed their wishes for the continued success and growth of BASIC Udayana, hoping for further development in its scientific diving activities and an increase in its inventory. The mentor of BASIC Udayana also shared encouraging words, stating, “It is wonderful to have this 8th-anniversary celebration, and I hope it will continue every year. I wish that BASIC Udayana will keep improving, and when you all become alumni, don’t forget BASIC Udayana, because this is where you grew and developed.”

The celebration received positive feedback from all members of BASIC Udayana, with many expressing the hope that the anniversary will continue to be celebrated in the future. This event allowed members to connect with each other, strengthen the familial bonds within BASIC Udayana, and foster greater trust and camaraderie among the members.
