IMPACT STARTS HERE: STUDENT CREATIVITY PROGRAM FACULTY OF MARINE SCIENCE AND FISHERIES, UNIVERSITY OF UDAYANA TOWARDS WORKS WITH REAL IMPACT
The Faculty of Marine Science and Fisheries, University of Udayana, once again held its annual PKM EAGER 2025 event, carrying the theme "Impact Starts Here." This event was initiated by the Student Executive Board (BEM) of the Faculty of Marine Science and Fisheries, particularly by the Department of Education, Research, and Development, as an in-depth introduction to students regarding the Student Creativity Program (PKM). The goal of this event is to enhance students' understanding of how to systematically prepare PKM proposals in accordance with the applicable guidelines. Through direct mentoring by faculty members, this training is designed to guide students in understanding the structure and mechanisms of PKM, as a foundation for creativity and innovation based on science, technology, and faith.
This event received full support from the faculty members and leadership, as well as active participation from students across various study programs. The event began with a report from the committee chair, Hadromiyah Azziyadiy, followed by a speech from the Vice Chairman of BEM FKP 2025, Leonardo Jonathan Handika Putra, and was officially opened by the Vice Dean for Student Affairs and Information, Prof. I Wayan Gede Astawa Karang, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D. In his speech, he conveyed, "PKM EAGER is the annual program of BEM FKP to prepare and select PKM proposals from the faculty level to the national level. We appreciate BEM for adjusting the timeline with the university, even though the regulations at the national level often change. This year, 14 FKP proposals passed to the national level, dominated by PKM-AI due to the tendency of students to follow faculty-led projects. Moving forward, FKP needs to encourage other PKM schemes to be more diverse. With great potential in the fields of marine and fisheries, as well as support from young faculty, we hope that PKM EAGER will be the first step in improving the quality and spirit of students in competing." The speech ended with three taps on the microphone, marking the official opening of the event.
The entire PKM EAGER 2025 event was conducted online and designed in several stages that required participants' perseverance. The proposal selection process was carried out objectively and transparently by a jury team consisting of faculty members and experts in their fields. This event also opened up great opportunities for students to explore creative ideas based on Indonesia's marine and fisheries potential. This was strengthened by easy access to field data available in the maritime sector. As a result, two teams achieved the best awards in the PKM 8 Fields category, won by the team of Amanda Novita Imaniar, and the PKM Incentive category, won by the team of Ida Ayu Ngurah Deepika Ishana. These two teams proved that FKP students have the capacity to compete at the national level.
One participant, Freyanata, shared positive impressions of the event, saying, "In my opinion, the PKM EAGER 2025 series has been very well organized and structured. Not only as a platform to introduce PKM, but also to provide new insights from the material presented by the speakers. The overall EAGER series left a strong and profound impression on the participants." However, there are still challenges to be faced, such as dynamic changes in regulations from the central level and the low diversity of proposals from FKP. This becomes an important note for improvement and future strategies for BEM to guide students in reaching all PKM schemes. Overall, PKM EAGER 2025 was successfully held with great enthusiasm, spirit, and solid collaboration between the committee, faculty members, and students. This event not only served as a training and competition platform but also as a space for self-actualization for students in developing knowledge, scientific writing skills, and innovative thinking. It is hoped that this event will be the starting point for the emergence of FKP generations capable of passing national selections and bringing the name of the University of Udayana to the National Student Scientific Week (PIMNAS).
