MSP UNUD EXPLORES 3 COASTAL ECOSYSTEMS IN 1 DAY

The Aquatic Resource Management Study Program (MSP) is one of the study programs under the Faculty of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, Udayana University. One of the courses in the MSP Study Program is the Tropical Coastal and Marine Ecology Course which studies the 3 main ecosystems in coastal and marine areas, namely mangroves, seagrasses, and coral reefs.

On Saturday, December 9, 2023 MSP students who took the course conducted field lectures and practicums from morning to evening. This aims to deepen students' understanding of mangroves, seagrasses, and coral reefs.

This time the students were accompanied directly by the lecturer in charge of the course, Ni Made Ernawati, S.Kel., M.Si. The practicum began with a visit to PT Agung Aquatiq Marine, which is one of the coral export companies in Bali. There students obtained various information about corals and saw firsthand the rare cultivation in exitu.

The second location was the Penyu Island mangrove ecosystem located in Tanjung Benoa. There students learned to identify mangrove species and learned to collect data on the structure of the mangrove community. And the last location is the seagrass ecosystem at Samuh Beach, Nusa Dua. There students also learn to identify the types of seagrass and learn to collect data on the structure of the seagrass community.

The practicum ended in the afternoon. It was a very tiring day, but very enjoyable because on this occasion the theme was "melajah sambil melali (learning while traveling)".
