Training on the Use of R Applications to Improve Competence at the Faculty of Marine Affairs and Fisheries

On this day, the Faculty of Marine and Fisheries held an intensive training aimed at improving competence in using the R application for data analysis. The event was attended by 13 participants, including representatives from the National Education University and Yayasan Cendekia Waskita. The main resource person in this training was Ida Bagus Mandhara Brasika, S.Si., M.Sc. from the University of Exeter.

The training covered several main points presented by the resource person:

1. R Application Installation Process: Each participant was given a guide to install the R application on their respective devices, as the first step in participating in the training.

 2. Description of R Application: The R application is a software with a high programming language designed to perform data analysis and graph generation. The advantages of this application include:
* Free and open source, allowing access for all.
* Effective in data processing, handling, and storage.
* Provides various statistical analysis tools and graph visualization techniques.
* Flexible and customizable to user needs through the creation of packages.
* Easy-to-understand and effective programming language for application development.
* Compatible with various operating systems, including Windows, UNIX/LINUX, and Macintosh.

3. Practical Use of R Application and Data Frame: Participants are trained hands-on to use R applications in a practical context, with a primary focus on the management and manipulation of Data Frames. Data Frames in R are data structures that allow efficient storage and manipulation of data, suitable for complex analysis.

 4. Use of Datasets: In addition, participants are also guided in the process of loading datasets from various storage sources, such as R and Excel databases. They are also taught data manipulation and visual presentation techniques to maximize the potential of data analysis.

This activity aims to improve participants' understanding and skills in applying R applications for data analysis in the context of marine and fisheries science. Thus, it is expected that the participants can optimize the use of R applications to support scientific research and development in the future.
