Strengthening Sustainable Research and Technology, Udayana University’s Faculty of Marine and Fisheries Signs MoU with YPUN Laboratory in Jembrana

JEMBRANA (22/01/2026) – Udayana University, through its Faculty of Marine and Fisheries (FKP), continues to expand strategic partnerships to support the development of Indonesia’s fisheries sector. This commitment was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Udayana University and the Research and Development Laboratory for Shrimp Aquaculture Technology owned by the National Shrimp Farmers Foundation (Yayasan Pembudidaya Udang Nasional/YPUN).

The agreement was signed in conjunction with the Grand Launching of the laboratory, located in Banjar Taman, Tuwed Village, Melaya Sub-district, Jembrana Regency, on Thursday (22/01/2026).

A Commitment to Collaboration Between Academia and Industry

FKP Udayana University’s participation in this event reflects the institution’s commitment to downstreaming academic research so it can be applied in real industry settings. This collaboration is expected to serve as a bridge between higher education and field-based practical needs, particularly in advancing sustainable shrimp aquaculture technologies.

In this strategic moment, Udayana University became one of six higher education institutions that formalized cooperation with YPUN. Other partner institutions include:

  • Universitas Brawijaya – Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences

  • Universitas Airlangga, Surabaya

  • Faculty of Health Sciences, Medicine, and Natural Sciences, Universitas Airlangga, Banyuwangi

  • Marine and Fisheries Polytechnic (PKP) Jembrana

  • Universitas Ronggolawe

Support from Government and Key Stakeholders

The inauguration event was attended by national figures and regional leaders, including Major General TNI Farid Makruf, M.A. (Lemhannas), Chairman of TPUN Prof. Dr. Ir. Mapruch, M.Si., IPU, and TPUN Founder Prayadi Agus Winarto.

For FKP Udayana University, this partnership opens significant opportunities for both lecturers and students. The modern shrimp aquaculture R&D facilities can be utilized for joint research, development of appropriate technologies, and to support the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program through industry internships and field-based .


Through this synergy, FKP Udayana University aims to contribute actively to increasing national shrimp aquaculture productivity while improving the welfare of shrimp farmers through the application of science and technology.
