EXPLORING POTENTIAL, SAILING THROUGH A SEA OF ACHIEVEMENTS: SELECTION OF OUTSTANDING STUDENTS AT THE FACULTY OF MARINE AND FISHERIES, UDAYANA UNIVERSITY TO SHAPE AN EXCELLENT AND QUALITY GENERATION
In 2025, the Faculty of Marine and Fisheries at Udayana University once again held the Outstanding Student Selection (PILMAPRES) under the theme “Exploring Potential, Sailing Through a Sea of Achievements.” This annual event is initiated by the Student Executive Board (BEM) of the Faculty of Marine and Fisheries with the primary goal of enhancing students’ knowledge, interests, and talents. Moreover, PILMAPRES serves as a platform for participants to channel their creative ideas. Through this competition, the faculty aims to nurture high-quality students ready to compete at the university level. The selected winner will receive intensive coaching to advance to higher levels of competition.
The 2025 PILMAPRES was organized by the Student Resource Development Department of BEM Faculty of Marine and Fisheries, involving students from various study programs. The event began with an opening by the MC, followed by a report from the head of the committee, Freyanata, and remarks from the President of BEM FKP 2025, Ravarizi Rakhman. The event was officially opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Marine and Fisheries, Udayana University, Prof. Dr. Ir. I Wayan Nuarsa, M.Si. In his speech, he said:
“PILMAPRES is an annual routine event, but I hope there is continuous improvement each year. I encourage the committee to provide greater recognition to the participants, especially the winners, to increase student interest and help us discover outstanding students who can represent the faculty at the university level. I also extend my gratitude to the lecturers who have agreed to serve as judges and who will objectively assess the participants' performances. Congratulations to all participants who have strived to be the best at the faculty level. May the best be selected and compete further at the university level. The theme of this year’s PILMAPRES, ‘Exploring Potential, Sailing Through a Sea of Achievements,’ aligns well with our shared goal of continued excellence. I truly hope students of the Faculty of Marine and Fisheries can shine as outstanding students at Udayana University.”
The speech was concluded with three taps on the microphone to officially open the event.
Before reaching the final stage, all participants had to go through various selection phases designed to ensure objective and comprehensive assessments. During the competition, participants went through several evaluation stages, including:

Focus Group Discussion (FGD) to assess critical thinking and teamwork;

Creative Idea Presentation to evaluate innovation and delivery skills;

English Proficiency Test to assess international communication abilities;

Outstanding Achievements Interview to explore participants’ academic and non-academic achievements;

Character and Personality Interview to assess students’ ethics and personal values.
All stages of the selection took place in Room 4.5, Batur Hall, Samudra Building, Faculty of Marine and Fisheries, Udayana University, and involved judges from among lecturers and experts in their respective fields. One of the participants, Ririn, shared:
“I think the PILMAPRES agenda this year has been well-structured. It provides a great platform for students in the Faculty of Marine and Fisheries to develop their skills and better prepare themselves for higher-level competitions. Overall, this year’s PILMAPRES was exciting and memorable.”
The 2025 PILMAPRES was held with great enthusiasm, a spirit of togetherness, and joy shared among participants and the committee. This event was not just a competition but also an opportunity for students to enhance their academic quality, leadership, and relationship with fellow students and lecturers. Through the various stages of selection, participants were encouraged to sharpen their critical thinking, innovation, communication, and personal character. It is hoped that this activity will serve as a sustainable starting point for developing student potential and provide wide-reaching benefits for everyone involved. The spirit of unity fostered during the event is expected to continue growing and inspire students to contribute toward building a better future.
