Ocean Care Action: Commemorating World Ocean Day 2025 "Sustaining Our Seas For Future Generation"

In celebration of World Ocean Day on June 8, 2025, the Marine Science Student Association (HIMASILA) of the Faculty of Marine and Fisheries, Udayana University, organized the Ocean Care Action as a form of commitment to protecting marine ecosystems.

With the theme “Sustaining Our Seas For Future Generation”, this event served as a moment to reflect on the ocean’s vital role in our lives while encouraging students and the general public to take concrete action in preserving marine sustainability.

Series of Activities and Competitions

The event ran from June 1–9, 2025, and featured a range of creative competitions, including:

  • Photography Competition (5 participants)

  • Short Movie Competition (3 teams)

  • Poster Competition (15 participants)

The judging phase took place on June 11, 2025, followed by the main event and award ceremony held on June 15, 2025, at Love Stone, Pandawa Beach.

Main Event and Special Guests

The highlight of the celebration was graced by the presence of several distinguished guests, including:

  • Abd. Rahman As-syakur, S.P., M.Si., Ph.D. – Advisor of HIMASILA, Faculty of Marine and Fisheries, Udayana University

  • I Wayan Darya Kartika, S.Pi., M.Si. – Advisor of Marfish Preneur Student Body

  • I Made Yunarta, S.Si., M.Si. – Guest speaker

  • Representatives from the Student Representative Council, Student Executive Board, and the Aquatic Resources Management Student Association of the Faculty of Marine and Fisheries, Udayana University

Message from the HIMASILA Chairperson

In her opening remarks, Galuh Maheswari Nabilah Ardiningrum, Chairperson of HIMASILA, expressed hopes that this event would instill a deep sense of love and responsibility for the ocean among students and the wider community.

“Through this event, we hope to inspire our friends to be more caring, wiser, and more proactive in protecting ocean sustainability. Whether big or small, every action we take makes an impact—especially when done together.”

Future Hopes

Through this Ocean Care Action, HIMASILA hopes to continue fostering awareness and engaging more stakeholders in marine conservation. The spirit of ocean stewardship is expected to become a deeply rooted culture among the younger generation, ensuring the sustainability of marine resources for the future.
