Opening and Welcoming of Sembung Village Development Program Students, Faculty of Marine and Fisheries, Udayana University 2024
On Thursday, October 31, 2024, the opening and welcoming ceremony for students participating in the Village Development Program (Bina Desa) from the Faculty of Marine and Fisheries, Udayana University, took place in the meeting room on the 2nd floor of the Sembung Village Office, Mengwi District, Badung Regency. This Bina Desa Program is themed "Application of Probiotics in Catfish Farming to Increase Productivity in Sembung Village." The event was attended by the Head of Sembung Village, the Village Secretary, the Chairperson of the Village Consultative Body (BPD), the Field Supervising Lecturer (DPL), and village staff. This program is a collaborative effort between the university and the village community to promote sustainable catfish farming, specifically through probiotic application to improve yields and enhance market access.
The event began with a report from the Program Chair, Komang Putri Marta Armayani, who outlined the program's goal of enhancing catfish farming productivity in Sembung Village through probiotic application. She expressed, "We hope this program can bring tangible benefits to the community of Sembung Village, particularly in achieving sustainable improvements in catfish farming," she said enthusiastically.
Next, the Field Supervising Lecturer (DPL) from Udayana University, Ni Made Ernawati, S.Kel., M.Si., delivered a speech expressing gratitude for the warm welcome from the Sembung Village community. She remarked, "Through this program, we hope that students can make real contributions and engage in village activities, while also learning to face real-world challenges and becoming partners with the community in fisheries development. We also hope the Faculty of Marine and Fisheries is recognized as a committed institution for advancing technology and knowledge in the marine and fisheries sector at Udayana University," she said.
The final speech was given by the Head of Sembung Village, I Ketut Sukerta, who voiced his full support for the program. He stated, "This program brings high hopes for the development of catfish farming in our village. I greatly appreciate the students' enthusiasm, which focuses not only on technical improvements but also on the marketing aspect, which has long been a challenge," he said.
The ceremony continued with the symbolic pinning of nametags on the students by the Head of Sembung Village, accompanied by the Field Supervising Lecturer, officially marking the start of the program. It is hoped that this initiative will have a sustainable positive impact, particularly in improving community welfare through technological and market-integrated fisheries development. The event proceeded smoothly and with great enthusiasm, concluding with a group photo session with all the guests in attendance.
