Strengthening Academic Ties: Udayana University and AIRCAS China Forge Research Collaboration in Remote Sensing for Marine Science and Fisheries
Udayana University and Faculty of Marine Science and Fisheries, has taken a significant step in advancing marine science and fisheries research through a newly signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Aerospace Information Research Institute (AIRCAS), China. The official signing ceremony took place on February 28, 2025, at the Bahasa Room, Rectorate Building, marking the beginning of a promising international collaboration. The partnership is set to enhance research and academic cooperation, particularly in the field of remote sensing for marine and fisheries applications. By combining AIRCAS’s cutting-edge expertise in satellite-based remote sensing with Udayana University’s strong foundation in marine sciences, this collaboration aims to drive impactful research that supports sustainable fisheries and marine resource management. During the event, Prof. Ir. I Ketut Sudarsana, S.T., Ph.D., Rector of Udayana University, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating: "This MoU represents a milestone in our commitment to international research excellence. By working together with AIRCAS, we will develop innovative approaches in remote sensing that can significantly contribute to marine sustainability and the advancement of higher education in Indonesia."
Echoing this excitement, Prof. Yirong Wu, Director General of AIRCAS, highlighted the potential of this partnership: "China and Indonesia share a deep connection in marine sciences. Through this collaboration, we aim to bridge our expertise, promote technological exchange, and support young researchers in pioneering advancements in oceanic and fisheries studies." The collaboration also reflects broader efforts to strengthen academic and scientific ties between China and Indonesia, paving the way for future research projects, faculty exchanges, and technology transfer in remote sensing applications. As both institutions look forward to the next steps, this partnership is expected to foster joint research, capacity building, and sustainable development initiatives in marine and fisheries sciences.
The event concluded with a souvenir exchange and a group photo, symbolizing the strong bond that has been established. With this new agreement, Udayana University continues to expand its global research network, reaffirming its role as a leader in marine and fisheries education in Indonesia.
