The Faculty of Marine and Fisheries Udayana University, in Collaboration with MAI, Successfully Held the 2025 International Conference Aquaculture Indonesia (ICAI) in Surabaya
The Faculty of Marine and Fisheries collaborated with the Indonesian Aquaculture Society (MAI) to organize the International Conference Aquaculture Indonesia (ICAI) under the theme “Resilient and Sustainable Aquaculture: Advancing Innovation for Food Security and Blue Economy.” The conference took place at the Wyndham Hotel in Surabaya on October 29–30, 2025, and was attended by more than 250 participants.
The event was chaired by Dr. Pande Gde Sasmita Julyantoro, a lecturer from the Aquaculture Department, Faculty of Marine and Fisheries, Udayana University. Dr. Pande stated that the success of this event was strongly supported by the cooperative collaboration between academics, practitioners, and various organizations related to the fisheries and marine sectors.
The Chairman of the Indonesian Aquaculture Society, Prof. Rochmin Dahuri, delivered a welcoming speech and officially opened the event. In his remarks, he emphasized that Indonesia holds great potential to develop its aquaculture industry through integration among academia, practitioners, and investors.
The Vice Governor of East Java, Emil Elestianto Dardak, also addressed the conference, highlighting the current state of the fisheries sector in East Java and stressing the importance of maintaining food security in every region.
This forum served as an important momentum to strengthen collaboration and expand networks among aquaculture stakeholders and enthusiasts from both domestic and international communities, focusing on the development of a resilient and sustainable aquaculture industry to support national and global food security.
