Udayana Fishing Competition as a Platform for Hobbies and Conservation with the Community
As part of its work program, the Student Association of Marine Resources Management at the Faculty of Marine and Fisheries, Udayana University, once again held the Udayana Fishing Competition 2025. The event took place on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at Tukad Bindu, Jl. Turi, Kesiman, East Denpasar.
The event was attended by the Advisor of the Student Association of Marine Resources Management, Ayu Putu Wiweka Krisna Dewi, S.ST.Pi., MP, and the Manager of Tukad Bindu. The program began with an opening by the MC, followed by a presentation of the event by Gede Langgeng, the event organizer. Then, speeches were delivered by Uni Putri, the Chairperson of Himmaspera, followed by Bapak Gung Ari, the Manager of Tukad Bindu, and finally by Bu Ayu Putu Wiweka Krisna Dewi, the Advisor of Himmaspera.
In her speech, Bu Ayu stated, “This fishing activity is an effort by the Faculty of Marine and Fisheries students to introduce the faculty, build relationships with the community, and raise awareness about preserving aquatic environments.” The event then continued with the handing over of a plaque to the representative of Tukad Bindu, Kesiman. The fishing competition was symbolically opened with the release of the master fish by the Advisor of Himmaspera.
The event lasted from 09:00 AM to 01:00 PM (WITA) and was attended by around 120 participants from various regions in Bali. A participant was considered a winner if they managed to catch one of the three master fish available. Each master fish was marked with a different colored ribbon:
Brown for 1st Place,
Blue for 2nd Place,
Red for 3rd Place.
In the first session, a participant successfully caught a blue-ribboned master catfish, which was categorized as 2nd Place, winning a cash prize of IDR 1,000,000. In the second session, another participant showed their skills by catching a red-ribboned fish, which was categorized as 3rd Place, with a cash prize of IDR 500,000.
After the competition, the event continued with the much-awaited doorprize distribution, conducted through a lottery system, giving all participants an equal chance to win. The main doorprize was a Smartphone and Dispenser, along with various other exciting prizes.
This event received great enthusiasm from the community, who actively participated in making the competition lively. It is hoped that this event can serve as a platform to channel hobbies, foster social spirit, and strengthen the relationship between students and the community.
