Bali, March 2, 2025 — The Faculty of Marine Science and Fisheries (FKP) at Udayana University successfully held the first day of the Marine Biology Short Course Program in collaboration with Kwansei Gakuin University, Japan. The program runs from March 2 to 10, 2025, and is attended by 10 students and 2 lecturers from Kwansei Gakuin University.
The activities began with breakfast at Aston Kuta Hotel and Residence from 7:00 AM to 9:30 AM WITA. Afterward, the group departed for Lake Batur, Kintamani, to conduct a series of field observations related to freshwater biology.
Upon arriving in Kintamani at 11:30 AM WITA, the participants enjoyed lunch at Batur Water Park Villa Camping Resort. After a short break, the main session commenced from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM WITA, focusing on observing Lake Batur. The activities included observing freshwater fish aquaculture, studying organic matter content around the hot spring area, and collecting hot spring water samples for further analysis.
After the observation, the group continued to a civet coffee farm to learn about the production process of Bali’s specialty coffee. This activity took place from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM WITA.
Concluding the first day's activities, all samples collected from Lake Batur were brought to the FKP Udayana University Laboratory for further analysis. The group arrived at the campus at 6:30 PM WITA.
The Marine Biology Short Course aims to enrich students’ knowledge of freshwater ecosystems in Bali and strengthen academic ties between Udayana University and Kwansei Gakuin University. The first day’s activities went smoothly and were met with great enthusiasm from the participants.
