Participating in the 14th National Diving Jamboree at TNKJ, BASIC UDAYANA Joins to Enliven the Event
The National Diving Jamboree is an annual event organized by the Indonesian Student Divers Forum (FoPMI), a prominent platform for student divers across Indonesia engaged in various diving activities. The 14th National Diving Jamboree in 2024 was held at the Karimunjawa National Park (TNKJ) with the theme "Karimunjawa's Enchantment: Discover the Paradise of Java." This theme highlights the unique existence of TNKJ and aims to reveal the lesser-known beauty of its underwater world to the broader public.
The event brought together 37 participants from 12 different diving clubs, including Baruna Scientific Diving Club Udayana, Bali (BASIC UDAYANA), UKSA-387 from Diponegoro University, Marine Diving Club of Diponegoro University (MDC UNDIP), Research Diving & Fisheries Schooling of Diponegoro University (REDFISH UNDIP), UGM Diving Club, Nature Lovers from Semarang State University (MAHAPALA UNNES), UBB Diving Club of Bangka Belitung University, Fisheries Diving Club of Hasanuddin University (FDC UNHAS), Marine Science Diving Club of Hasanuddin University (MSDC UNHAS), Discovery Diving Club of Jenderal Soedirman University (DDC UNSOED), Marine Conservation Club of the National University (MCC UNAS), and the Water SAR Unit of Soegijapranata University.
UKSA-387 from Diponegoro University hosted this year’s jamboree, a role they volunteered for during the Congress of the 13th National Diving Jamboree held in Banda Naira, explained FoPMI’s chairman, Hudan Assalam. To coordinate the event, UKSA-387 collaborated with several diving clubs in Central Java, including MDC UNDIP, REDFISH UNDIP, and MAHAPALA UNNES.
Held from October 20–27, 2024, representatives from the Baruna Scientific Diving Club, Faculty of Marine and Fisheries, Udayana University (BASIC UDAYANA), attended the jamboree. Nine members represented BASIC Udayana, including Gandhi Bintang Alhafsy (BASIC Udayana President 2024), Muhammad Agung Nugraha (Vice President), Kadek Pradnya Paramita (Secretary), and other key members. The goal was to establish connections with other diving clubs and promote the BASIC Udayana organization. "The National Diving Jamboree is a gathering for student diving communities across Indonesia, where BASIC Udayana members can introduce our club to FoPMI and expand our network," stated Gandhi.
The 14th National Diving Jamboree began with an opening ceremony and a dive at five dive spots, Coastal Clean Up, Underwater Clean Up, and land-based tourism. The opening event took place on Monday, October 21, 2024, at the Karimunjawa Village hall and was officiated by the Karimunjawa Village Head. "This diving jamboree is a valuable gathering for us all. It is not only a chance to connect with divers from across the country but also a moment to show Karimunjawa’s remarkable marine beauty. We have a wealth of coral reefs, diverse fish species, and marine ecosystems vital to our community," stated the village head.
The schedule continued with dives at five key spots (Pulau Cilik, Pulau Sinthok, Pulau Genting, Indonor, and Tanjung Gelam Beach) from October 22–25, 2024, followed by Coastal and Underwater Clean-Ups on October 26, 2024. On October 27, the event concluded as participants departed for Semarang, greeted warmly upon arrival by the UKSA-387 members and alumni, who expressed hope that the experience at TNKJ would be memorable and inspiring for everyone.
In 2023, BASIC Udayana first joined the 13th National Diving Jamboree in Banda Naira with a delegation of four. This year marked BASIC Udayana’s second participation, and they aspire to participate again in 2025 at the 15th National Diving Jamboree in the Selayar Islands, Makassar.
